( Boudica, Boudicca, Boudiccia )

The Iceni tribe was only one of hundreds of "The Great Celtic Race" of people that lived in Briton for about 500 to 600 years, the Iceni ruled most of East Anglia mainly what is now called Norfolk. There were three main tribes which were broken down into many small Clans which only 26 I have tried to revise, there was very little ever known or written down about the tribal customs or history, so we have to rely on today's "Archaeologists" and the "Roman Annuals" which mention Briton from about 75 BC to the fall of the "Rome Empire."

We do know that they were not very tall race of people but were very fierce and wild, and followed the Druid Religion plus they had great herds of small but fast horses. The Archaeologist have found many hoards of "Gold Torque" (neck bands) and Gold Coins with the Mystical Celtic "Horse Design" so they must have been very good Goldsmiths and Craftsmen as well as Great Warriors. In about 50 or 60 A.D. the "Roman Annuals" tells about "The Great Rebellion" of the Iceni tribes lead by ( Queen Boudica ) which burnt down all the Roman towns in the area including "London" killing thousands of Roman Citizens.

The rebellion was eventually quelled, the Queen Boudica was said to have poisoned herself so not to fall into the hands of the Roman Soldiers. We do not know what happened to the tribes of the Iceni, they probably remain an "Enigma of Norfolk" forever, almost a generation of men must have been lost the in war, and the Royal Family of Boudica were ruthlessly purged. No trace has ever been found of Queen Boudica herself and the Iceni Clans, but we might find some of our Ancestry in the dark streets of Norwich or a small town or village in a remote part of Norfolk.
